Boundary reviews

Overview

We carry out three different types of reviews: administrative boundary reviews, structural reviews and electoral reviews. You can also find information about open consultations, community governance (parish) reviews and other review bodies.

Final recommendations published

We have published the final recommendations for new electoral arrangements for the new unitary authorities in Wiltshire and Shropshire. These new unitary authorities will come into effect on 1 April 2009.

We have also published the final recommendations for new electoral arrangements for West Sussex. This electoral review was undertaken with the presumption of single-member electoral divisions being recommended.

Structural reviews in Norfolk, Suffolk and Devon

Our review programme

We are inviting local authorities in England to tell us about any proposals they may have for future electoral or administrative boundary reviews.

We are planning to carry out a programme of reviews between 2009 to 2011, following changes to the law introduced by the Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act 2007. In doing so, we are asking local authorities to tell us about any reviews they may be requesting over the next few years so that we can consider all proposals before finalising our work schedule.  Further information can be found on our invitation letter (PDF).
